COLORIFIC
It is a source of great pride and pleasure for the School of Arts and its Supporting Association to present a major exhibition on the theme of colour. The exhibition has been organised under the overall responsibility of the Exhibitions Commission, in partnership with the Cultural Centre and with the support of the Municipality of Braine-l’Alleud.
Petra Bungert, founder of CCNOA (the Center for Contemporary Non-Objective Art), has accepted our invitation to serve as curator of this event. Under the title COLORIFIC, the exhibition brings together 18 contemporary artists from various countries, all of whom have an international reputation.
The works selected by Petra Bungert (some specifically created for the exhibition site), are both two- and three-dimensional and have been produced using new media. They offer a real visual experience: a constructive confrontation with the colour-filled universe of Non-Objective Art, which cannot fail to sharpen and develop the sensibilities of all.
Her professionalism, keen insight and intelligence succeed in sparking a real dialogue between the works, their locations and those seeing them, thereby achieving the aims set by the Exhibitions Commission – to offer the students, local people and anyone interested access to professional, high-quality contemporary creation; to break down the barriers between different studios and courses; to foster curiosity and an open mind; to stimulate debate and to strengthen synergies, the purpose being to enable each and every individual to develop their own identity, focusing on two interdependent concepts: education and culture.
A number of seminars will be given under the COLORIFIC banner by artists, theoreticians and other colour specialists. In addition to the opening preview of the exhibition on Thursday 26 January 2012, a second reception will be held on Thursday 8 March 2012 to mark the arrival of tow new large site-specific works exclusively created for the exterior of the school building by Léopoldine ROUX and TILMAN. They will both complete and enrich the initial selection of works.

Le 2ème vernissage accueillera de nouvelles œuvres qui complèteront l’exposition.

Accessible du mardi au vendredi de 11h à 19h, le samedi de 10 à 14h.
Fermée du mardi 21 février au samedi 25 février 2012, le vendredi 23 mars 2012, du mardi 03 avril au samedi 14 avril 2012 et le mardi 01 mai 2012.

Des conférences ponctueront l’exposition, elles seront données par des artistes, des théoriciens et autres spécialistes du monde de la couleur.
